CORONA, Calif., Feb. 20, 2002 (AP) — Almost the entire Padres organization, from players to bat boys to executives, joined 1,500 other mourners at outfielder Mike Darr’s funeral Wednesday.
“Mike would be laughing if he saw how many of his friends have shirts and ties on,” infielder Damian Jackson said in his eulogy.
Darr and Johnson weren’t wearing seat belts and were ejected. Minor league pitcher Ben Howard, who was in the back seat, was wearing his seat belt and walked away with just scratches.
